“Fear grows in the shadow of timidity. Fear shrinks in the light of courage.”
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 2:1 (NIV)
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV)
Do you see how commonly used translations of the Scripture interchange the word fear and timid (or timidity). In fact, if you research all Bible translations (57 by my count), you will see this occurrence over and over. It seems to me God wanted to be sure we recognized those emotions were not from Him. His Spirit gives us power, makes us courageous, shows us how to love, which is not living in fear. Have you allowed fear to take root in your life? Have you ever thrown your fears aside and walked courageously with God through something He was asking you to?
