“Sorrow is temporary but joy is enduring and eternal. One can have joy and sorrow simultaneously, because joy isn’t an emotion, though today’s modern dictionary defines it as such. In biblical times, joy had a much richer, deeper, much more enduring meaning.

Galatians 5:22 (NIV) says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness…” So, joy is one of the gifts which the Holy Spirit gives to those who follow Him despite our circumstances.
